Quickest path to a fix
Tell your AI assistant exactly what you're seeing (“I got an error that said X”, or “nothing happened after I clicked Y”). It can check campaign status, regenerate links, and usually diagnose the problem in one turn.

Connecting

The connector URL is being rejected

The only valid URL is https://mcp.nfthing.com/mcp. It must be HTTPS (not HTTP), with no trailing slash and no extra path segments. Copy-paste it exactly.

I don't see a 'custom connector' option in ChatGPT

Custom connectors live behind Developer Mode in ChatGPT. Go to Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings and enable it. If you don't see the Advanced section at all, your plan doesn't include custom connectors — see the supported plans.

My OTP email never arrived

Check your spam folder, then request a new code. OTPs expire after about 10 minutes. If nothing still arrives, confirm the email address matches your Membrane account and email support@nfthing.com.

It worked last week, now my AI says it can't reach Membrane

Your session has likely timed out. Membrane keeps you signed in for a week of inactivity; after that you'll need to sign in again via email OTP. The connector itself stays configured — you won't have to redo setup, just the sign-in.

Uploading files

The upload page says 'session expired'

Upload links are valid for 60 minutes. Ask your AI for a fresh link and upload again — it's instant. If you closed the tab by mistake, the link is still valid (you don't have to restart the whole flow).

The upload page says my file type isn't allowed

Video ads accept MP4 or WebM only. Image surveys accept PNG, JPEG, or WebP. If your file is in a different format (e.g., .mov or .avi for video, .heic or .tiff for images), convert it first with any free converter or export from your editing app.

The upload page says my file is too large

Videos are capped at 500 MB, images at 10 MB each. For video, export at 1080p or lower and cut the bitrate. For images, compress them to WebP or JPEG before uploading — most photo apps have an Export-at-quality setting.

My upload got to 100% but the 'Done' button is grayed out

For image surveys, you need at least two images before the button enables. For video-plus-thumbnail, you need the video uploaded (the thumbnail is optional). Check the upload list above the button — anything with a red “Failed” badge needs to be re-uploaded.

I came back to chat but the AI says the upload isn't complete

Return to the upload page and click “Done — Return to chat” (sometimes labeled “Complete upload”). That's what marks the session finished. If you already clicked it and still see this, ask the AI to re-check the status — sometimes the check just needs a second try.

Creating campaigns

The AI says 'reward must be a positive number'

Reward has to be a positive integer — 0 or negative numbers are rejected. Pick any amount above zero and try again.

The AI says my URL is invalid

URLs need the protocol prefix. Use https://example.com/path, not example.com/path.

Image survey says it needs at least 2 images

Round-robin, binary, and slider surveys all need a minimum of two images. Go back to the upload page, add at least one more, and ask the AI to retry.

Single/multiple-choice question rejected for missing options

Choice questions need at least two options. If you told the AI to create a single-choice question with only one option, it will fail — either add more options or switch that question to open-ended.

Video ads

The AI says my video is still being processed

That's expected — videos take 3–5 minutes to transcode after upload. The campaign can't go live until processing is finished. Give it a few minutes and ask the AI to try again.

Video processing failed

Rare, but it happens if the file is corrupt or uses an unusual codec. You'll need to create a new campaign with a re-exported video. Try opening the file in any video player first — if it plays fine there, export it as a fresh MP4 before uploading.

My ad has been 'processing' for more than 10 minutes

Ask your AI to check the status — it can tell whether processing is still going or something failed. If processing is stuck, email support@nfthing.com with your campaign name so we can look on our side.

Results & insights

How do I see results?

Just ask your AI for an insight report — “give me the results for my Spring campaign”. It'll pull an executive summary, a question-by-question breakdown, and suggest follow-up questions you can ask for deeper analysis.

Can I export results to CSV?

Not directly from the AI. The insight report comes back as structured text you can copy into a doc. If you need raw CSV for your own analysis, email support@nfthing.com with your campaign name.

I want to edit a question mid-campaign

For text surveys and ads with feedback questions, you can. Ask your AI to update the question list and it'll replace the whole set. Existing responses aren't retroactively re-asked, but new respondents see the new questions.

I want to delete a campaign

Campaigns can't be deleted — only paused. Ask your AI to pause campaign X and it'll stop collecting responses. The record stays in your list for reference.
